Recap has signed a land lease contract for a Battery Energy Storage System of 500kW/522kWh.

May 26, 2023 | News

Recap Energy  is pleased to announce the signing of a Land Lease contract today, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of sustainable energy solutions. We will install a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of 500kW/522kWh that will be used in combination with an already installed 900kW wind turbine.

The key feature of this collaboration is the integration of the BESS with the wind turbine’s power generation capabilities. By reducing the windmill’s power output to 400kW, the remaining 500kW will be made available for us to leverage for ancillary services, such as Frequency Control Reserve Down (FCR-D) and Frequency Fast Reserve (FFR). This dynamic partnership not only optimizes the utilization of renewable energy resources but also enables the provision of crucial grid stability services.

Capture, a renowned provider of energy storage solutions, has been selected by Recap for their expertise and cutting-edge technology. The energy storage system will include a 690Vac transformer, ensuring seamless integration into the existing infrastructure. With an estimated arrival in the upcoming autumn, the system is poised to revolutionize the renewable energy landscape and foster a more sustainable future.

“The signing of this Land Lease contract represents a significant step forward in our mission to promote clean and reliable energy solutions“, comments Joakim Aspe, Senior Energy & BESS Specialist at Recap Energy. “This project allows us to leverage our expertise in energy storage systems and combine it with the power generation capabilities of the windmill. This synergy will not only increase the efficiency of the renewable energy infrastructure but also provide essential ancillary services to support grid stability” he adds.

Recap Energy remains committed to leading the way in sustainable energy integration and fostering collaborations that drive positive change. By harnessing the power of renewable energy sources and advanced energy storage technology, they aim to create a greener and more resilient energy grid for the benefit of all.
