Large scale battery energy storage systems support the electricity grid in Töreboda and Mariestad.
Recap Energy today announced a collaboration with VänerEnergi and Hitachi Energy where Recap installs 3,3 MW battery energy storage solutions (BESS). This collaboration will lift the Recap concept “Battery as a Service” where the client pays for the hourly capacity used from the energy storage. Battery as a Service (BaaS) is a concept that will, amongst other, help clients to reduce peak load problems without taking on heavy investments.
A local grid company such as VänerEnergi benefits from having BESS for managing its peaks loads, but it would not be profitable for them to invest in their own battery for that purpose alone. Through Recap’s innovative business model and smart control system, they can now lease an industrial battery during the hours they want to use the battery and its capacity.
Recap Energy, VänerEnergi and Hitachi Energy, who are companies with years of knowledge and experience in the energy market, have agreed to collaborate in this project with the purpose of filling the gap between “classic” and “innovative” business models with regards to energy storage solutions.
“Recap Energy has during the last year prepared a flexible finance for BESS to solve the issues that arise with the rapidly growing electrification in the society. The project in Töreboda/Mariestad shows that Recap together with its partners have reached a proof of concept of this innovative business model” says Marco Berggren, Founder and CEO at Recap Energy.
“VänerEnergi is a local energy company with 15,000 electricity grid customers. In the new age that we live in with electric car charging and photovoltaic systems, we are facing new challenges.
